Eyes Closed

Andrea Hupke De Palacio
Featured Artist

What is abstract to you? Personally, its the innermost thoughts and feelings of an artists. Its being creative and pushing the limits of what art it. Andrea's pieces here are absolutely beautiful. There is a sense of depth and life in each of these works. The colors she uses are so captivating I cant stop staring at them. To paint abstract you really have to let everything go and not think, letting the paint move you. If anything I think being an abstract painter is more difficult then lets say a realist artist. Mostly because as a realist, they are painting what they see, detail for detail. An abstract artist is making everything up, even if the subject matter is recognizable the paint application is 100% up to the artist, they become free to explore. Andrea is a very talented artist and LOUPE is lucky to be able to feature her.

Color Me Bold

Andrea Hupke De Palacio
Feature Artist

I have always had a warm spot in my heart for abstract artists. Their art is so full of life and original. It is always refreshing to see something new, something that has never been done before, something that can never, and will never be replicated. This week's artist is Andrea, a truly fine artist. The first piece is my favorite. The colors are so brilliant and full of life. Using the organic lines to break up the bold colors makes this piece so interesting. I adore what Andrea said in her interview about her method, she simply tells her self "do not think about it, go and do it." Many artists should learn this lesson and just let everything go and create from the heart. Find out more about Andrea in the Feature Artist section.

Reaching New Heights

Elizabeth Merritt Kong
Feature Artist

True artists put their hearts down on paper. Elizabeth has cleverly combined her passions through her art work. Here we see Elizabeth's Gibson Guitar that was featured as public art in LA. What a leap to have you are put out there for the world to see! It's definitely a huge accomplishment to be recognized by so many. As Elizabeth mentioned in her interview, she truly loves rock climbing. What a better way to be surrounded by what you love then to draw it. These sketches are so beautiful and put t he sport of rock climbing in to a different light for me. What are some of your muses of inspiration for your work?

Of the future

Alex Liclican
Featured Artist

And we are back showing off Alex. You know, it really amazes me when an artist can use the simplest shapes and make the piece look so complex. Alex really is a skilled "doodle" artist. This work has such basic lines yet it is very detailed. Ive got to say, when i sketch it looks nothing like this. I feel that no matter what path of artistry Alex chooses to take he will blow people's minds with his imagination and talent.

Inside this and that

Alex Liclican
Featured Artist

New week new artist. Up this week is Alex Liclican. Alex is, well your average guy i suppose. An average guy with mad skill! He has been perfecting his portfolio to get into Art Center for quite some time now. Here are a few of his sketches. They have a fantasy feel and look very organic. I really like how they let you see what's inside his head. Its always exciting to see the imagination of a artist. What so you think of his work? Talk about it! Find out more about Alex in the artist section.

Two Faced

Kira Nutt
Featured Artist

So continuing with our artist of the week we are showing a different side of Kira. Usually she likes her art work to be very expressive, but she definitely has a different side to her. Being incredibly into the graphic arts, Kira also has a liking for a clean and structured aesthetic. Here is some of her ink work with the idea of rhythm into each piece. As she said in her interview she is definitely a well-rounded artist. It really does help to know all the art "rules" to know how to bend and break them. Working with different mediums helps with knowing how to mix and match. Although this set of work has a total different vibe from her last works, we still things its edgy and amazing. What do you think?
