Eyes Closed

Andrea Hupke De Palacio
Featured Artist

What is abstract to you? Personally, its the innermost thoughts and feelings of an artists. Its being creative and pushing the limits of what art it. Andrea's pieces here are absolutely beautiful. There is a sense of depth and life in each of these works. The colors she uses are so captivating I cant stop staring at them. To paint abstract you really have to let everything go and not think, letting the paint move you. If anything I think being an abstract painter is more difficult then lets say a realist artist. Mostly because as a realist, they are painting what they see, detail for detail. An abstract artist is making everything up, even if the subject matter is recognizable the paint application is 100% up to the artist, they become free to explore. Andrea is a very talented artist and LOUPE is lucky to be able to feature her.

Color Me Bold

Andrea Hupke De Palacio
Feature Artist

I have always had a warm spot in my heart for abstract artists. Their art is so full of life and original. It is always refreshing to see something new, something that has never been done before, something that can never, and will never be replicated. This week's artist is Andrea, a truly fine artist. The first piece is my favorite. The colors are so brilliant and full of life. Using the organic lines to break up the bold colors makes this piece so interesting. I adore what Andrea said in her interview about her method, she simply tells her self "do not think about it, go and do it." Many artists should learn this lesson and just let everything go and create from the heart. Find out more about Andrea in the Feature Artist section.

Reaching New Heights

Elizabeth Merritt Kong
Feature Artist

True artists put their hearts down on paper. Elizabeth has cleverly combined her passions through her art work. Here we see Elizabeth's Gibson Guitar that was featured as public art in LA. What a leap to have you are put out there for the world to see! It's definitely a huge accomplishment to be recognized by so many. As Elizabeth mentioned in her interview, she truly loves rock climbing. What a better way to be surrounded by what you love then to draw it. These sketches are so beautiful and put t he sport of rock climbing in to a different light for me. What are some of your muses of inspiration for your work?

Believe in Imagination

Elizabeth Merritt Kong
Featured Artist

LOUPE's next feature artist, Elizabeth, is definitely my kind of girl. Not only would her dream school include a "sushi bar," but she also paints like some kind of neo-Dali artist. Both a plus in my book. Elizabeth's work has such a surreal and dream like quality. Each of these pieces work so well being monochromatic, bringing a sense of drama. The first piece shown is incredibly creative and looks as is she captured a moment from a story. Both works have this dream world essence. Elizabeth is one of those artists who is full of imagination. I can't wait to see more from her. What do you see when you look at these pieces?
